Ancillary Services
Specialist or Ancillary Services:
- If physician recommends additional medical services outside the Primary Care Physician (PCP) office, i.e.,
lab work, mammogram or x-rays, the member is given a Patient Procedure Form noting the required procedure.
- Member must refer to the Member Information Guide provider list, AmeriPlan® website or call AmeriPlan
Health® Customer Service for the closest facility.
Ancillary refers to tests and procedures ordered by healthcare providers to assist in diagnosis or treatment (pathology, radiology,
laboratory, etc). Ancillary Services refer to necessary services that supplement the care of patients. These types of services
are generally rendered outside of the provider’s office and are not primarily responsible in the clinical management or
direct treatment of patients.
